BTW everyone this is actually a much better unit than the previous one offered. For starters
there are more than 2 outlets. This one: 1100VA/600WA battery backup with 2200 joule surge protection Previous one: 850VA/425 Watt UPS battery backup no surge protection mentioned in description. The previous ones came just the unit packed in a cardboard box with foam inserts to immobilize it in the box and the few extras that were thrown in as the Mystery aspect of that posting. This unit comes with:
Features:
* Free auto shutdown software included
* USB communications interface (free 3ft. cable included)
* Audible alarm
* 6ft. power cord
* circuit breaker
* Power on/off test switch
* Power on LED - Indicates AC mode, back-up mode, and battery fault
* 5 battery back-up and surge protected outlet
* USB interface port for software/computer interface
* Surge protected combination ports accommodate either phone (RJ11) or network (RJ45) jacks (Free 6ft. phone cord included)
* 10 transformer spaced outlets
* Rechargeable and replaceable battery
But all that explains the difference in price... This unit $39.99, previous AMB A brand new UPS battery backup $24.99.
I did get the previous AMB A brand new UPS battery backup and it has already been worth it due to little power blips, you know, the kind that are just enough to make your digital clock start flashing 12:00... 12:00...12:00... 12:00 and restart your cable boxes and computers if you happen to have them turned on. We had some pretty good storms a couple of weeks ago and no power fluctuation at all during the storms but the next morning when it was clear, bright and sunny we had a power hiccup/ blip. I only knew it happened because of the loud BEEP the unit yelled out and my roommate griping about the cable box resetting while he was watching an on demand movie. I was in the middle of something on my computer and it didn't have any signs of the power blip.With the previous AMB units we have the UPS unit plugged into the wall and the Surge protector power strips( with 3 computers, monitors, router, modem, printer and lamps) plugged into the UPS unit. When I get these UPS units the 3 computers, monitors, router, modem, printer and lamps will get connected to these and at least 1 of the previous will go to the main TV room for tv and cable box, game consoles and dvd player

YMMV
