well, did you submit a trouble ticket to TF yet? Anyway, their other remote sensors most likely are compatible, the one included I think is probably a special edition since it's in the style of the clock.

For those who already have this: I understand the backlight can automatically turn on and off based on ambient lighting, but can you manually turn it on and off as well?

There's a switch on the bottom with three positions, one does the ambient sensor lighting, one is just off, and the other is on, when switched to on, the back light stays on all the time, if the AC adapter is plugged in. But if you tap the snooze button on the top of the clock, it will also light up the back light momentarily, and the light in that case is brighter than it i in just the normal on all the time mode.

How is anyone getting off the back of the remote sensor to put in the battery? It has 4 philips screws, but they're buried about 2" down and the diameter of the hole is so small that I can't find a single screwdriver that will fit in there.

Also, I tried to set it so that it updates the clock automatically, but can't seem to get it to work. Is there a trick to it?

I used a jeweler's screwdriver to remove the screws, it is a pain in the butt, but it makes it ultimately weather proof.

The auto atomic clock set is Dependant on a radio signal that is broadcast with the time, if it has poor reception then your clock cannot use it. So try even if temporarily putting it by an unobstructed window while you're trying to get the signal until it is set.

One remote comes with this clock, but I found additional remotes available on the Oregon Scientific site for about $30 each. Here's the link:

So I finally caved and ordered this clock, it arrived yesterday and I just now am fiddling with it for the first time, I am generally very pleased and impressed with it. Something that sets it apart is actually it's remote sensor, the remote sensor is styled after the clock and itself has a rather large LCD screen showing temp and humidity conditions on it--good for mounting somewhere readily accessible outside and you can walk up to it and read it.

I am happy but for one thing, and I ask for observations and experiences of those of you who also flung this clock... My LCD on my clock seems really washed out to me, I mean really really,. I don't know how to describe it exactly except that the black you normally see on a LCD readout, is in my case more grey to transulucent. In fact I have to move my head to a certain angle to even read the display, otherwise it is so obscured it is hard to read anything. Which I wonder if it might be a polarizer issue on mine?

So my question to you fellow flingers of the deluxe clock, what is your opinion of the display on yours? Is it washed out? I wish to discern if this is normal for this product, or if my unit is subpar in this way, and if that is the case I will be speaking with thingfling, because mine seems so bad I don't think I can live with it.

And originally I put in the batteries first, so originally I thought it was just because the batteries were weak, but it is the same even with the AC adapter plugged in.

Of course I haven't read the manual yet, am I overlooking some contrast control? Think

Finally caved and bought one today, can't wait to get it. I didn't see any replies to your contrast issue. When I get mine I'll try to respond about mine.

My clock works great except for the atomic clock part, if I don't set it manually it is 2 hours off, any suggestions? And the contrast is great on mine.

I'd wager to guess there is a way to set the timezone, and yours is off from where you're actually located, I'd look through the manual for such a setting.

Does the darkness of the letters of the clock vary greatly depending on viewing angle on yours?

The darkness of the #'s and letters are dark and easy to see at any angle.

I looked trough my manual, I didn't see any time zone setting, could have missed it, but from what I saw it looks like if you're with-in 932 miles of a signal it will pick it up. Mine just picks up one that 2 hours off.Think

Thanks, I've only just recently come back from a trip, so I haven't yet played with my clock further. But if I come across a time zone setting, I'll let you know. The reason I suspect there is one, is because my other clocks that are set by radio signal all have time zone settings, as the signal that is broadcast, I believe, is GMT and then the clocks adjust depending on time zone setting.

Mine definitely has a darkness issue, or lack thereof, and it varys greatly depending on viewing angle, especially in the vertical sense, in fact if you view it from just a bit above eye level, it washes out almost completely. I am convinced there is a contrast control somewhere.. More on that later, if I figure it out.

Last time it was $24 with FREE shipping and now it is $24 PLUS $6 shipping? This is NOT what you guys said was going to happen when you went with the "new improved" shipping charge addition!

RoadRanger, I'm no fan of the new shipping system, but in fairness: When I bought this on 2/29 when they were on the free shipping system, the price was $29.99.
