Okay, just go through opening one up, and poked around some. An AC adapter won't charge your batteries, it switches when you insert the plug. Not much for components, 2 resistors to limit the current, and a bridge rectifier to make sure the fan only spins in one direction. Nice wiring job though, quality work inside the case.

Going to look for a higher voltage adapter, hopefully around 9-12 volts that will fit, or something to donate a plug. Pretty sure these can handle more power, and should get hotter or colder. Probably not boiling water or making ice, but not comfortable to the touch. Warm up coffee, or keep a beer ice cold...

If it hasn't expired yet, you will see any coupons you have in your "My Flings" But I can't say as to whether those first time user coupons will work on shipping fees, I actually don't know.

Just got my 2 UB Kools in the mail today...and just in time too. It was quite hot and humid out today. I can say that it really does work! The blue disc actually felt quite cool right out of the box. But once I put batteries in and turned it on, it got mighty chilly and pretty quick too. I haven't tried out the heat function yet...it's too hot out for that...maybe in another 6 months.

I hope when they say it uses "patent-pending NASA-developed technology", they weren't referring to the design of the battery compartment. And OMG! I can't believe how flimsy the battery cover is. I mean I read the reviews before I ordered it, and lots of people had said it was flimsy, but words just can't properly describe it. It's just something you have to see to believe.

At any rate, I think it was well worth the 10 bucks to get 2 of these.

They won't let you use the coupon on any item where you only pay for shipping. I had tried that.

Ok, so, I don't know if it's just my units or the batteries I got.

I got NiMH rechargeable batteries, rated at 2000mAH.
I popped them into my mini-cooler and tested it out. They definitely do get gold. Not ice-chilling cold, but colder than ambient that's for sure.
Anyway, the cooling or the batteries only lasted about 20minutes TOPS on both units (2 sets of batteries, 1 for each mini-cooler). Does anyone else experience huge battery consumption?

Yep it's the same case over here, I got some Ni-MH batteries from Woot that work fine in everything else, but the cooler KILLS them in about 20 minutes - looks like I need to find a compatible AC adapter...
