Fresh design and a digital LCD display so bold that peripheral vision is enough to tell the time, The Oregon Scientific PSL01A-G Full Weather Station is a versatile clock and calendar features a daily crescendo alarm and snooze with a choice of 7 different alarm melodies. The clock automatically sets itself to the official U.S. atomic clock, accurate to one millionth of a second. The unit also features an easy-to-read barometer with weather forecast symbols (sunny, partly cloudy, cloudy and rainy), graphical trend indicator (rising, falling or steady), optional altitude compensation setting (-100m to 2500m) and 23-hour history in numeric format.

A moon phase indicator shows high, medium and low tides with 8 moon faces. A thermo-hygrometer measures temperature and humidity from 1 indoor and up to 3 outdoor sensors. One outdoor remote temperature sensor is included, as are four AAA and two AA batteries, power adapter, and one-year warranty.

This clock is brand new and has the MSRP $100.00 and the lowest price found is $61.00 plus shipping. On THING FLING you pay just $23.99.

*** DANGER ****

I'm having a problem with the product I ordered from FlingThing.
They refer me to the MFR website.
All the links are broken and all their phone numbers are disconnected.

FlingThing tells me "Unfortunately, we were unable to reach the person
from the manufacturer company as he no longer works there,
and this item was part of a closeout deal."

So, basically, I'm humped!

Don't buy anything from these guys. They sell closeout crap that breaks
and there's no one to fix or perform warantee work on it.

Your statements do not seem to be correct or at least complete.

Number one, you are having a problem with a product and not with ThingFling. We have up until now complied to all our polices and even though you have agreed to the policies of the site which clearly state how we conduct our business, you believe your statements are correct.

You also did not mention the conditions of your complaint.
Item received on 08/21/2007 and the very first email to our help desk was on 12/18/2007.

So let's see, you waited more than 3 months to complain about an item and when the company decides to open an exception and help you by looking for the information that you have asked for even though your order does not fit within our policies this is how you respond? Shame on you

ThingFling has walked through some rough territory to prove to we are a legit and honest company.

Since I have to be here to explain the story that you have told our community using only the side that you feel is correct I would also like to ask you to avoid Spam on our forums. We are very liberal about that, but this is very bad practice.

Now that we all understand what actually happened we can all have an educated opinion about it.

Just ran across this message and wanted to make a comment. A lot of things don't add up abot your statements, even before I read Shaggy's response........

Here's my comment: It's not like Oregon Scientific is some little no-name company that's now out of business. Bad Grin No idea what your problem is, or why you need to talk to "a guy at Oregon Scientific, but I assure you they'te not out of business, maybe the "guy doesn't work there anymore but if your product has a valid warranty there's a whole company worth of people to get in touch with, just look on their site.

PS it's not like TF keeps it secret that they're a close-out seller. Laughing

Well, Mine arrived today. Obviously this won't be high end for the price, but the build quality seems good and everything works as advertised. The display (at least the time) is easily readable from across a room, and the weather features work as well as could be expected. The ability to have it automatically turn on the backlight when the ambient light falls below a certain level is also handy.

Very well priced for $25, including a $5 discount I had lying around.

Ordered on 2-17-08, it's 2-28-08 and showing "processing".

What's the holdup? I know I've been billed, what other processing is there?

Not very happy with the processing time on this one at all. Ordered on 2/15 and it shipped on 2/28. 8 working days is too long and they billed my credit card on 2/15.

If anyone has an idea of HOW the HELL you disable the auto-syncronization on this POS, please post it. The manual on this thing is HORRIBLE, and the directions they give to disable this feature does NOT work.

Oregon Scientific doesn't even have info on this model (PS L01A).

So I finally caved and ordered this clock, it arrived yesterday and I just now am fiddling with it for the first time, I am generally very pleased and impressed with it. Something that sets it apart is actually it's remote sensor, the remote sensor is styled after the clock and itself has a rather large LCD screen showing temp and humidity conditions on it--good for mounting somewhere readily accessible outside and you can walk up to it and read it.

I am happy but for one thing, and I ask for observations and experiences of those of you who also flung this clock... My LCD on my clock seems really washed out to me, I mean really really,. I don't know how to describe it exactly except that the black you normally see on a LCD readout, is in my case more grey to transulucent. In fact I have to move my head to a certain angle to even read the display, otherwise it is so obscured it is hard to read anything. Which I wonder if it might be a polarizer issue on mine?

So my question to you fellow flingers of the deluxe clock, what is your opinion of the display on yours? Is it washed out? I wish to discern if this is normal for this product, or if my unit is subpar in this way, and if that is the case I will be speaking with thingfling, because mine seems so bad I don't think I can live with it.

And originally I put in the batteries first, so originally I thought it was just because the batteries were weak, but it is the same even with the AC adapter plugged in.

Of course I haven't read the manual yet, am I overlooking some contrast control? Think

Standard reply, as seems per the norm as of late, etc etc"

TF never knowingly ships defective products to your door, but they have no real way to check every product. Simply submit a trouble ticket, and I am well sure they will take care of the situation.
